Your first visit to Safford Dental establishes a vital foundation for our relationship with you. During the first visit, we make sure to obtain important background information, like your medical history, and give you time to get to know your doctor. To understand what to expect for your first visit to our practice, please read through this page. You’ll find all the practical information you need, such as a map and directions to our office, practice hours, payment policies and more. There’s also background information about our committed staff and our first visit procedures. You can even save some time at your first visit by printing out and completing the patient forms in advance of your appointment.
Your initial appointment with one of our doctors will include a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations. We will also take radiographs (x-rays), which include either a full mouth series or a panoramic X-Ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth. If necessary, a bite-wing series of radiographs will be taken for proper diagnosis of proximal decay of the posterior teeth. The doctor will explain the findings and discuss treatment options with you to optimize your oral health. We emphasize a co-diagnosis philosophy with our patients, including you in the discussion to better educate you as to the cause and the solution to your dental needs.
